In 1997, eight feminist organizations joined together to form the PAR-L Strategic
Research Network, funded by a grant from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research
Council of Canada, Strategic Research Networks, Women and Change Program. This network
is an expanding partnership of feminist research centres, professional associations,
and grassroots women's organizations.
The main goals of the PAR-L Strategic Research Network are to :
- promote greater co-ordination and collaboration among Partners in order to achieve
greater efficiency in the use of scarce resources of time, money, and personnel;
- give greater visibility and impact to our collective work in feminist research and
advocacy through the new communications technology;
- reduce the "electronic jungle" effect that comes from the massive quantitites of
unsifted information available on the Internet;
- create an interactive space (e.g. an e-print archive) for electronically sharing
research-in-progress.
